The year was 1939 when Aloysius Schmidt opened the doors of Maxrast. Originally seeing an opportunity to offer supplies that would always be needed (black pens with a booming economy and red in bad times)Maxrast has evolved into the largest independent Office Supply and Stationery Retailer in Chicago!

82 years after opening, Maxrast is now run by Don, Therese, Brian, and Brendan Schmidt.  Our retail store in Downtown Chicago features a massive selection of notebooks,office products.

Relaunched in 2020, you can shop for thousands of notebooks and stationery products on the brand new Maxrast.com.  

Maxrast has been in the Schmidt family for over 80 years and we pledge to offer service that makes a world of difference.
